What is the importance of an ending in a letter?

There is  lots to unpack when looking at the ending of letters. The way the letter wraps up before saying best wishes or all my best. How people wrap up their thoughts before “signing off”. The way the person signs their name on a paper can describe a person’s personality too. If they print their name it could show they are not a very serious to the point type of person. Whereas if a person does cursive it could show they are a serious person with direct thoughts they wanted to get out.  Also, in many letters there is a notion of PS and extra information that they bring out to their reader. What is the importance of that and what does that do for the writer? It makes it seem like the information is less important because it wasn’t remembered in the real letter. But, was still included at the end of it because there is some importance to it. I would love to look at different letters with a PS and see how it relates to the main idea of the letter. I would also love to look at the different ways people sign their names and how it relates to that person in general. The last thing that would be interesting to look at is ending sentences of a letter. Some really sad love letters or heart wrenching letters in general have deep lines at the end that aren’t talked about enough.  There is a lot to look at but I am not sure if I should focus on one of these things or do all three because they all connect with their main point in a letter. I would love to pick 2 or 3 letters and pull out those main points to write about their importance.
